Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Yana Cheatham earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of St. Augustine in San Marcos after completing her bachelors degree in Kinesiology (Exercise Science) from California State University, Northridge. Yana’s interest in physical therapy was first sparked in high school due to an injury as a cross country runner, and was then solidified in college when she had the opportunity to work with pediatric patients for CSUN’s adaptive aquatic therapy program. She has clinical experience in both the outpatient and inpatient settings, and enjoys working with the active population. She also holds a certification in Emergency Medical Responder for the Sports Clinician. Dr. Yana values patient education and utilizes an individualized approach while helping her patients reach their performance and functional goals via manual therapy techniques, corrective exercise, and neuromuscular reeducation. Having grown up playing a variety of sports, she finds helping others return to their favorite activities incredibly rewarding. In her spare time, Dr. Yana enjoys playing in her beach volleyball league in Long Beach, pilates and pure barre classes, attending concerts with friends, and dancing!
